12 to 18 months out is ideal for popular photographers. Booking at 10 months is still doable, but your preferred photographers may already be taken for popular dates. Start reaching out now and expect to review at least 3 portfolios.
4 to 6 months for production after you place the order, then 6 to 8 weeks for alterations. Starting dress shopping at 10 months gives you time to visit multiple boutiques without pressure. Ordering at 8 months gives you adequate runway for fittings.
Not required, but many couples who skip video wish they had it. Decide early because videographers and photographers often book similarly far out, and some studios offer bundled packages that require committing to both at once.
